Touring in Quebec
I am planning a self-contained bike tour on the La Route Verte 5 from Montreal to Quebec. The Guide book appears to be very useful for the route per se, but it does not show many camping areas. The majority of the accommodations that the guidebook shows are hotels and bed/breakfast. Does anybody have any experience with finding places to camp along the La Route Verte 5? Are people just so nice in Canada that they will let you camp on their property.

Hey jog: I can't help with the camping but an excellent biking area. We went last year. I got a lot of info in the forum: Regional discussion, Eastern Canada. Might want to post there if you fail to get much info here. Enjoy and bring rain gear and mosquito repellent.

There's tons of places to camp - you won't have any issues.
The route along the St. Lawrence is real nice....you're gonna love it.
Make sure and hit up some Warm Showers contact along the way...

Another good source of information about campsites in Quebec is the Bonjour Quebec web site:

The Route Verte guide book only shows campsites which have obtained the Bienvenue Cyclistes (Welcome Cyclists) accreditation.
