Help installing a Tubus Fly/Luna
Hi,
I just purchased a Tubus Luna for light touring on my Bridgestone RB-T, which doesn't have rack mount braze-ons on the seatstays. This rack will let me carry a decent load and mounts to the seatstay bridge, so no need for p-clamps. I looked at the directions on the Tubus website, and see that I will have to bend the rack's stay to meet the seatstay bridge, possibly using the small bracket they include. But what I don't understand is how to deal with the rear brake cable, which, since these are cantilever brakes, runs right down the middle of the seatstays. So I would have to do some pretty fancy bending to get the rack's stay to navigate around the brake cable. Does anyone have pictures of a Tubus Fly or Luna mounted on a bike with cantilever brakes? Or did I make a mistake and this rack is better suited for a bike with side-pull brakes (calipers or V brakes)? Thanks for any help. |

Okay, I'll try moving the straddle cable up, and tucking the rack stay beneath it. In this picture, which side of the seatstay bridge is the rack stay attaching to? It must be using the bracket, bent to around 90°, right?
