Great Divide Book

Hi, once saw a book that i foolishly passed up. It was a memoir of sorts of a guy who rode the GDR when he was pretty young and then came bck and did it again fifteen or so years later. The copy I sa had a close up shot of a rear cassete cluster taken from the back of the bike. I am just hoping that some one knows the name of this book and/or who wrote it so I can track it down. Thanks.

The only reference that I can think of was an article in 1985 in Bicycle Rider magazine about a bike ride along the Continental Divide by the Moe brothers-Mike and Dan in 1984. Unfortunately both brothers died in a boating accident in 1995 so they do not match your facts.

The route opened in 1996 when Adv. Cycling staff members rode part of it according to Mike McCoy who mapped the route in his guide book-Cycling The Great Divide. Not quite 15 years so far by that count.

John Stamstad time trialed the GDR in 1997 to set the first record at 18 days and 5 hours.

I hope someone has the answer. I would be interested in that read as well.
