Hello everybody !

If you ever been on the NH roads, then you might be able to help me.
I'm planning a trip from coaticook (canada) to old orchard (maine) and since I'm not familiar with the road in the NH and ME I thought that this might be the right place to get some input !!!

I'd like to hear about some alternative paths, suggestions, comments, are these roads cyclist-friendly. Well any information will be useful !

I've driven some of the roads up around Berlin, NH. Route 16 isn't bad, generally low traffic in my limited experience. Can't comment about shoulders or anything, but I think it's mostly 1 lane in each direction. Berlin is a pretty crappy place, so you might be better off going through Upton. Errol, NH has a pretty big general store with lots of camping gear and supplies. If you're looking to add some nature to your trip, I very highly recommend checking out Umbagog Lake State Park, you can camp in a remote site out on the lake (accessible by boat only). I've spent some of the best weekends of my life camping there, it's quiet, peaceful and ridiculously remote.

thanks for the info, I was planning first to go by Gorham since the total climb is 956 meter as opposed to 1100 meter to through Errol and Upton. Might reconsider this !!

i biked accross southern new hampshire last summer. beautiful scenery and the roads weren't too bad. two bits of advice i wish i had before i set out: intersections are poorly marked and to expect little cell phone coverage.

almost every crossroads i came across had only one road marked. not a big deal if you know where you are, but if you get lost (like i did) it makes it very difficult to figure out where you are.

also, i had very little cell phone coverage once away from civilization (manchester).

i should also add that had my ride recquired an overnight stay, i would have had very little trouble finding a spot to stealth camp. plenty of cover off of the road and not too many 'no trespassing' signs.
