Uh Oh...LHT now available with 26" for all sizes...

Heard this on another forum with pics to verify...Just in from Interbike, the LHT will be available with 26" wheels for all sizes. I'm guessing starting in 2010, but maybe sooner?

Anyone thinking about switching?

Multiple threads already mentioning it. I keep pestering my LBS about getting one but it hasn't arrived in the supply chain yet. I want a 56cm with 26in wheels. Everyone thinks that it'll be in stores before 2010, I'm hoping in the next couple of weeks. Many other brands already have their new bikes in stores, but not Surly. I want mine soon because I want to take it to South America as soon as possible!

From the Surly Blog:

"Trucker is blue and will haul you through Uzbekistan on 26" wheels if you're big... and you want that... "

"Availability. Soon we will have some good dates for the new stuff we showed. When we do, we'll let you know. Until then, hang tight. Some things will be available around December, others not for a bit after that yet. Thanks, Skip"

Their new website shows the LHT now available in truckacinno and blue. No black that was mentioned in the Interbike buzz. Also shows the familiar "26"for 54 cm and below; 700s for 56 and up". Just sayin'...

I hope they offer forks separately. I just found a nice mid-80's Stumpjumper in the trash that was missing its fork. I think it could make a nice tourer once I find a decent fork.

edit: ACK! I just realized this probably will use a 1 1/8" fork. Oh well....back to da'bay

It still has mount points for Down Tube shifters (gasp). Silly cannondale and co-motion.

I can't wait to try one of the XL frames on 26in wheels and see how it compares to my Rodreguiz.

i think its great, a classic 26" wheel bike chassis IMO like a cunningham racer. rock it!

I might wait for year two color choices but 26" Long Haul Truckers will be super solid, knock it out of park rustica touring bike.
