Help to buy a bike - long tour

I suppose thread like this appear all the time, but I believe that each person has different needs and therefore all have to be treated separetely.

My parents are going to the US next month and I'd like them to buy me a bike.

I am going to use it in the city and to travel. I am planning a 4-5 months trip, so it should be very comfortable and resistant.

I am in a short-budget (let's say 500-700 USD), so I'd like advices on what to buy. Is it better to buy the separate parts or to just buy a "complete bike"?

I found Scott Sub 30 ( and Scott Sportster P6 ( and P5 ( What do you think about those?

Another good option I found is Novara Safari (
