I have had the lht for about 3.5yrs. came only as frame, I had nos brakes and shifters. the lbs where I bought the frame let me sort threw a couple buckets of hubs to get what I wanted, the rest of the bike was put togather with swaps and on sale itams. I could see how a preson may have a touring bike that does't fit ,or found at bargen price that could be striped of parts. If you need to by half of the parts to put the lht togather. you better by the complete bike.

After building a custom LHT from the frame up I have to say that everytime I ride the bike, the more I like it. The cost is one thing but the other part that never seems to get mentioned is how nice a bike the LHT can be made by upgrading the parts.(Not that it's not a nice bike to start with) Wheather it's psychological or not, a custom bike sure feels special a nd the fact that it's your own creation makes it even more so. Now I realize that it all is dependent on what you have ridden in the past and what you're accustomed too as your point of refrence but in my case, I would do it again.
