Your hole in the ground pictures

We've had all kinds of 'Your ---- pictures'. I thought I'd start at the bottom. Let's see pictures of holes in the ground. Canyons, mountain tops looking down, falls, etc. If you ridden there and you looked down into it, let's see it. I'll start

Grand Canyon, near Point Sublime on the north rim.

Rode past this stunning "hole in the ground" on the ABB transamerica ride in '07. It was the ONLY thing worth looking at on a hot, straight, boring 100+mile ride through eastern Wyoming. It apparently served as a buffalo slaughtering area for the Indians....after this day I felt like riding off the edge myself.

Most Famous Hole?

What hole is more famous than Jackson Hole? And while I'm at it, the most beautiful "anti-hole"....the Grand Tetons with the Snake River slithering at it's feet.

Yea sign up for that...

I could fill a book with all the holes I found on my bike.

There's a pretty big hole in the top of Mt. St. Helens. It's a nice ride to the visitor's center, too. You can do the "Tour de Blast" as an organized tour or just ride it yourself.

The descent from Khardung La, North India, near the border with Pakistan. 18,300ft, with 6,500ft of non-stop descent to reach the valley base. The whole world is a hole!

Crater Lake and Yellowstone National Parks. Both great places to ride. Crater Lake's rim is an outstanding 33 mile ride. We have a tradition of teleskiing there on the 4th of July, and we usually take our bikes. We went through Yellowstone on a cross country ride, and despite all the horror stories, found it a great way to see the park.

Remarkable only for the reason that I fell completely into it near the end of a 135km day. I ended up getting a motel room that night.

Mt. Katahdin in Maine. I rode my bike to the trailhead and then hiked up, I hope this counts.
