I think this would be perfect with a rechargable pack that slipped into the steer tube... Now I have to build one I don't want a dyno hub(cost/drag) but this is simple, clean and gives me ideas. If I could just buy the usb steer tube cap and somehow... my wheels are spinning.
Just have to figure out how to charge it without removing it.... That might be the biggest hurdle..

Bump. Curious of any new information people have to offer. With the constant progress in solar technology, I'm kind of surprised this isn't a more discussed topic on bf.net

I carried this Solio "classic" last summer on the Trans Am and it was a big disappointment. I found that it needed to be angled directly perpendicular to the sun to charge at all. Tied on to the top of my trailer bag even all day in the blazing Wyoming sun it would not charge even 1 unit out of 5. After being charged from a 120 volt receptacle it would charge my cell phone and iPod Touch quickly. Thus it's only function was a few spare charges to go when you could plug it in for it to receive a charge.
