Big Agnes Sleeping Pads?
 

I have been looking for a new sleeping pad on REI.com, and am wondering if anyone here has used a Big Agnes Air Core pad. Its half the cost of a similar therm-a-rest, the same weight, and packs up smaller. Is there a catch?

No catch, I've been using one for a couple years now and really like them. Be sure to check the Temperature ratings, the plain one is rated at 35 degrees, you will need one of the models with insulation inside for colder ratings. I just used my 35 degree pad on a 25 degree overnight camping trip, tent on snow and I was cold with that pad. I put my pack and all extra clothing under it which really helped. I will be getting the insulated core model for any future winter camping.

I've never had a more comfortable night's sleep. I also don't tour when it's 32 degrees, but BA does make an insulated version for colder temps (a little heavier). The only disadvantage is the fact that you have to do all the inflating. The comfort is worth all 19 breaths it takes me to fill my 72" model, YMMV.

Love my BA insulated 3" pad. Slides into a pocket in my BA bag, so the bag never slides off. Comfortable down to freezing temps, light weight, packs smaller then any other combo I have ever used.

I have BA Fishhawk and insulation pad and have found them to be an excellent combination.

I have the Air Core as well and love it. I picked it b/c the packed size is so small. Best pad out there IMO

I have the BA Air-Core air mattress - coffin shaped, insulated, extra long. I think it's a big improvement over Thermarest. I have back problems exacerbated by sleeping on backpacking mats. It's less painful with the Big Agnes. It packs smaller and weighs about the same as my old 3/4 Thermarest, and my legs are off the ground. It takes me 2 minutes of easy blowing to inflate it.
