How to find touring partner?

How do you guys go about finding a group to ride with?

crazy guy on a bike.. adventure cycling... local club.. traditional routes will also get you into contact with others who tend to like some company for a few hours or days.

Are you looking strictly local or a large group tour anywhere.

There are two (2), one week long tours forming now. One is on the Erie Canal in mid July. The other is Rails to Trails Sojourn. Both are in the northeast and draw people from all over the country. They are also very well run where all you have to do is ride and eat.

Where are you going?

I prefer to tour solo for the most part. When I do ride with someone, it is usually someone I met while riding. Occasionally, it is for a couple of days.

I'm only responding because many people here prefer solo touring and it's something you might want to consider.

Hi,

I'm in a German cycling forum. There's an anual meeting. There you'll find a lot of crazy people like us. After years of cycling alone - I now have no problems to find a partner.

p.s. If you don't mind paying for a first class trip try bike tour companies, you could look into that. I have toured with Vermont Bike Tours, and although it seems expensive, I felt I got my money's worth and wrote about it HERE. If this is your first tour and your really pining to do it, go for it. Time passes quickly and so many have let the chance to tour slip away.

I encourage cycling friends and their partners (even if they're not avid cyclists) to experience the outdoors camping :)

Go by yourself - you'll others that way. I used to tour by myself and was fine with that. Through the touring, I ended up meeting my husband and now we travel with our children. I have no idea how to find someone other than that, but it sounds like you've got some decent suggestions above.
