Well Of Course. How would you Identify the bike without a name. My bike is named "Buck". Because it is like John Cnady in "Uncle Buck", Strong and Dependable.

I resisted naming my LHT for a couple years until I went touring with a friend who was much faster than me. He rode like greased lightning, I pointed out, whereas I moved like regular lightning. Seemed appropriate to dub my bike "Regular Lightning." Sometimes I call it "Ol' Reg."

Most of my other bikes have names too, but this is the touring forum, and they aren't touring bikes. |
My LHT is called Camion. After a horse I used to know, and it for "truck" in French.
My SO initially called his Truckacchino "Lorry", but later decided to call it "Decaf" because it makes him feel slow and lazy. |
Hi Nancy! Sorry for the delay in replying, I was riding! The Monkey Mobile is fine, it's either hanging in the garage or down on the floor. We just got back from 40 miles on it. It still goes! Last ride we had the Burley Piccolo onboard, so there was four of us riding.

I manage large marinas for a living these days. You may have heard that some people actually name their BOATS! (gasp!) Yeah, believe it or not, some people actually do name their modes of transportation. And it naturally follows to me that I should have a name for my GT Xizang titanium mountain bike that I bought new back in 1995. I'm not as creative as I used to be, so I just call her "LADY XIZANG".
I know from experience that if you get really fond of something and attached to it, that tempts the theft-gods, and someone will come along to snag it. That causes me to be somewhat paranoid and to keep a much closer eye on my Lady Xizang than I might otherwise. |
