***The Colorado Bicycle Touring Society***
The Colorado Bicycle Touring Society is forming.
When I lived in Utah, I started the Utah Bicycle Touring Society which was a popular club focused on self-sufficient bicycle touring. I'm preparing to do the same thing in Colorado but on a much larger scale. I suspect that it will grow to be a broad membership organization with many interesting events across the state. If you are interested, do self-sufficient touring and live in Colorado then I'll add you to the list of those who would like to get e-mail notifications. Eventually there will be a web page. emerckx at xmission dot com |
cool,
Im actually surprised this doesnt exist. sign me up- Ill send you an email. |
I'm gonna tour thru Colo in a few weeks - will there be anything ready by then?
|
|
Oh good! A nay sayer. I usually hear from them right before the idea I'm working on goes big. ...and this is going to go big. If you don't already know that then you might want to have a cup of coffee and think about it for a little while.
Colorado tourers that are interested need to get me their names, location and contact info, PM is how that seems to be happening on this forum. e-mail works too. emerckx AT xmission DOT com

PM sent, this sounds like fun. Should I send you my e-mail address?
|
You bet Mark. Send me your e-mail. This is grass roots and I've just scored a fitting url that will need to be built up (in due time).
|
I'm in, sending you a PM now.
|
Don't get impatient because thus far, this is a one person effort (that will change) but this doesn't mean that nothing is happening.
Latests News: 1) I've secured www.coloradobicycletouring.com There's nothing there right now but that will change once I have the time to build the site. 2) Colorado Bicycle Touring Society has a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/...15199998519964 3) Nancy and I will be touring Colorado for about 30 days this summer and will be taking notes and meeting people. Giving me your information is the 100% sure way to be included on any news that's coming up. That said, the Facebook page is new and the more that sign up there, the better visibility we have. Colorado tourers, send me your contact info, link up on the Facebook page and be prepared to contribute!! This is going to be cool. Tailwinds, |
The website www.coloradobicycletouring.com is up.
A placeholder page until I get rolling on new content. |

|
moving to CO in about 3 checked weeks would love to have people to ride with, bookmarked the site cant wait to find out more
|
Everyone on the list should have gotten an e-mail with the latest details. If you gave me your contact info and didn't get it, check your spam folder. It was a high volume e-mail with "Colorado Bicycle Touring" as the subject.
Fun stuff! |
Things are coming along...and plans are forming among members.
2011 will be a big year for the CBTS and if all goes well, I'll be asking members to help with something super cool that will set the stage for many years to come. New look for the members page that's a time saver for visitors: http://www.coloradobicycletouring.com/swmembers.htm |

We're up "in the high country" and here's what we have going on right now... (I-70 Corridor)
High Wind Warning in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening... Mostly sunny. Windy. Highs 65 to 75. ****Southwest winds sustained at 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around 60 mph.**** Getting ready to go out on a cycling pub crawl with 200 close friends. The wind might make that interesting. It could certainly make bike-camping interesting. |
This just in from CDOT: GCR 12 Kebler Pass and FR 209, 306 Cottonwood Pass for the season. These passes remaining open are weather dependent. Early spring conditions should be expected.
Also note that the Glenwood Canyon Bike Path is open for the season. :bike2: |
