Shimano RSX hub strength and durability

I am looking to get some opinions on the strength and durability of Shimano RSX hubs particularly the rear. The wheel i will be building with the hub will be used for loaded touring. My only concern is that i get a great rim DB spokes and put them with a low grade late 90's hub. The hub is 36 holes, 8 speed and in great condition. I plan on building it with a Mavic A719 rim. I guess my greatest fear is that i am on the road and the hub would crack at the flange. Any opinions on the matter would be helpful. Thanks.
