I will be touring from Lewiston to Boise in a week or so (after starting in Portland). Can anyone tell me about the route, taking 95 out of Lewiston and then taking 55 south to Boise. Is there much traffic? How is the scenery? Is there camping along the way? Any reason I shouldn't take this route? Would appreicate any help you can give me.

I haven't ridden the part from Lewiston down to New Meadows in 30 years, but I rode most of the route from McCall to Boise last summer. I didn't do camping, but it was a great ride. Traffic wasn't bad at all. There are only so many ways to get there anyway The prettiest part was the ride along the river from Cascade to Banks.

I have never been in that area, but have some plans for late summer. From what I've been able to see from the Google photos of the route, looks to be one long piece of eye candy. The cycling option suggest the Weiser River Trail for 77 miles. Might be worth investigating as an adventure enhancer.

I rode from Horseshoe Bend to Banks last year. It is a narrow road with lots of fast traffic, both cars and trucks. I pulled off the road several times to let semis pass. There are a couple river rafting companies in that stretch and a cafe or two but no other services. Banks has only a small cafe.

I turned off to Crouch and found the road much quieter and more picturesque.
