Help: Low-traffic route from Toronto to London?
 

i biked from Toronto to Brachton (north of Hamilton) mostly along Dundas St. which was terrifying and i don't plan on ever doing that again. looking at googlemaps, it seems like a lot alternate roads start and stop abruptly. any suggestions on the best low-traffic/low-speed limit route from central Toronto to south-west London (2 day trip, don't care where i stop for the night) would be fantastic! thanks!

Cycling out of Toronto is no picnic. Consider taking the Go Train to, say, Brampton or Georgetown. There are a lot of quiet roads to take you in the direction of London from just east of the city. If you insist on cycling, consider taking the Waterfront Trail to Mississauga, and then following the maze of cycling paths in a northern direction until you clear the urban sprawl.

I can offer you an excellent way to get to Brantford (not Brampton) which is most of the way to London. Either bike the Waterfront Trail to Hamilton (or take the GO train to Aldershot and then bike down to Plains road. It has a wide bike lane and later turns into York Blvd in Hamilton. Find your way to McMaster University campus along Main Street. On the other side of the campus hook up with the Hamilton Brantford rail trail that will easily take you up the escarpment traffic free. If you bike from Toronto count on that being a full days ride.

I don't know anything about the Brantford to London link, but I'd like to hear it if anyone knows the best way.
