quilts are nice but even nicer is a wearable sleeping bag. toss and turn and go to the loo at night......
I have a wearable synthetic sleeping bag I bring if i am concerned about reliability in wet, like winter season touring or sea kayaking. summer i hardly worry about it. My current synth bag is an Exped, at about a kilo weight. Had a wearable Marmot NEST sleeping bag one for years until it lost its loft. I'd always carry it but it synthetic fill bags, even with the best continuous filament insulation, packs twice the size for about the same warmth as a down bag. for summer convenience and bike touring and small, down is the way to go IMO. YMMV. |
