Elevation gain maps. Best Web sites?
We are riding from Burlington to Ticonderoga down the West side. Does anyone know of any web sites that show elevation gains along routes?

Hands down https://www.ridewithgps.com Absolute best integration of map and elevation profile on the web. The only other program I have ever used that has better integration of the map and profile is National Geographic TOPO! Problem is the application is desktop only and not good for paved road based mapping; much better for trail mapping.

Thanks guys. This is a great site!
I checked out the road from Oswego through to Sodus Bay, NY to see if it would show small elevation changes the size of drumlins and it does. If I had used this I would not have been as surprized by the constant up & down on the south side of Lake ontario as opposed to the relative flatness on the north side, where I'm from.

Don't put any stock in the max grade #s. Way too much usually. It's easy to figure a pretty close grade for any particular climb by using the cross hair feature. Run the cursor along the botton of the map to see #s/lines to do the calculation.

I never use the profiles from Topo USA (laptop version), but I can run a cursor along my route and get a good idea of where the dips and doodles are by monitoring the elevation shown. I like stand alone info so don't want to be dependent on a "site". Call me old fashioned. Tom

Have you tried https://www.bikeroutetoaster.com? It can be slow sometimes, but I like the output.
