You can attach an excel file to a post?

Let me try.

How do you put an excel file on the web?

Willing to share what I did but haven't got a clue how to.

Advice?

When I select the Advanced Reply to Post button/editor, there is a paper clip symbol in the top set of edit function button. That's the Attachment/Attach files button. Try that.

It does not recognize .xls files.

Any other ideas?

Drmweavers 2's routing suggestion seems to me quite reasonable for the best mix of preplanning, scenery, and historically interesting places. Not the shortest though. There is at least one book detailing the MRT, which by the time you leave, will hopefully be more developed.

Google's cycling route will get you there the quickest, tho probably be the least interesting.

Figure on 50-70 miles/day, depending on your conditioning and mood, and allow a decent buffer so you don't have to worry about getting to graduation on time. A week for soakng up the history and culture of NO would be time well spent. If you've already done that, no problem. There's always more to discover. Heck, just sitting on a bench in the Quarter people watching is full time entertainment.

Um, on second thought, you could upload it to Google if you have a free account, then share it from there and post the link here like Ishiva did.

Edit: Um, I guess I can't find the post where he did that .... my memory must be going.

Ok, so I have never done this before...hope this is it.

I'll explain...the ted text for the DATE is the only one that you change. Use this format, 10/2/10.
When you change this date, the first day of the tour, all the other dates below will change.
I am a novice in Excel so I have yet to figure out a way to change ANY date and have all the others, above and below change accordingly. Would be nice if this could happen.

The first day Begin Here (Location), is manually put in as well as the first day Overnight Here. I have the Begin Here linked to "=" that OVernight here from the night before. So you only have to type in your "destination" for the day where you plan to stay overnight. The mileage is also manaully typed in. These figures were derived from using Google Maps or Bing Maps. Using these tools, they allow you to drag the route to the exact roads you plan to use and then calculate the mileage.

The entire column of Est. MPH can be changed and it wil of course change the other cells....you can click on the cells to see the exact formula and see what I have done. Depart column is the same way, for each day, the time can be changed, which of course, taking into account the "hours in the saddle" gives you an arrive time....again, this is solely based on est. mph and the mileage....it does not build in any rest time....of course one who is smarter than I can figure out how to add 1 hour to this formula to have that built in..or however much time you want to build in.

On my full version, I have the results of these showing up as the "answer" to questions like, How many miles is that all together? How many days will this take? How many days will you actually ride?, How fast do you ride?, etc....

This is a first draft and if any of you want to take and run with it and modify it to their liking and "ways", please do so. And if you have any suggestions about what to add or delete or have an easier way to do something...please share.

Cheers.

gtownviking, that worked fine. Not bad for someone who isn't an Excel guru. It's functional if not "elegant" - but functionality is more important than elegance for this application. Check your pm for a more detailed comment.
