I decided to buy a GF1 with the pancake lens for my upcoming South America tour. I'm picking it up from my parents place this weekend, I'll report back after I play with it for a bit.

Hate to revive an old thread, but I think this is a good discussion thread.
pasopia -- do you have a report on the GF1 yet? I am trying to decide on a new camera to purchase. The size of the m4/3 series makes me want to lean that way, but at the price I can't help but think about buying a smaller full-on dSLR, like the Panasonic Gxx series or a Pentax K-x.

I'm really happy with it so far. I've haven't had too much time to use it, but so far I have no complaints. With just the pancake lens, the camera is very small. I like the camera in this configuration, but I've always been a fan of prime lenses. The thing I love about the pancake lens is that it goes down to F 1.7! This makes it an excellent low light camera.
I would definitely recommend the GF1 over an a full SLR for bike touring, as long as you don't mind taking photos with the lcd screen ( I don't ).
