Ortlieb Back Roller Classic Pannier issue

1 Attachment(s)
Has anyone ever had an Ortlieb Backroller Classic pannier come apart at the seam at the top as shown below? I am wondering if this is normal - it is only happening on one pannier - and if it is something to worry about.

Thanks.

If that's just some material fraying from the edge of the bag I'd use a lighter [carefully] to melt it and stop that from happening. Not a big deal.

If that's thread from the stitching coming loose it will eventually come totally loose and needs some repair. If this is the case and the bag is still under the 5yr warranty you can chat with Ortlieb or you dealer about getting it sorted - although it might just as easily to get fixed yourself.

Worst case if all the stitching at that edge were to fail you'd just lose that plastic stiffener piece. The bag would stiff close and be waterproof.

Theres some webbing wrapped over the top edge.. a match will stop the thread from running,
a dab of seam sealer will keep it from going any further , all else you can sew the portion/piece where the stitching is loose
on by hand..

Ok, thanks for the input and suggestions. I think the main portion is the webbing, but there is some stitching coming loose on the one side.

The bag looks clean and new.
Talk to your dealer, (LBS?)
And if they don't help you,
Talk to ortlieb directly.

But then, It is probably easier to just fix it yourself.
