Help me plan my next cycling getaway adventure trip!

I'm putting this quick post up now. But I plan to really dig into this post in the coming days.
I plan on leaving New York City on or around October 13th for a cycling getaway. The only thing is.....I have no idea where I'm going.

Things I'm considering....

I would like the trip to be some place relatively close but was having heart set on taking a plane trip.
What city would be a good place to go to?
I like warm weather.
Should I stay near New York? The hamptons? Vermont?

I wouldn't mind staying at a nice(ish) hotel somewhere with great scenery for me to relax and enjoy at while I'm recoving from an 85 mile touring ride.

Any suggestions?

Ever think about bicycling across New Jersey from High Point to Cap May 234 miles.

My extended weekend will run from October the 14th through the 17th....with me possibly extending it to the 18th. I would have to be on a plane or if I'm staying local, riding by October the 13th in the afternoon to whereever I'm going. And I have to be back at work no later than October the 19th.

I'm looking at NJ now. Monmouth county has postcard like scenery right? With nice ocean views? If I decide on a local trip then I'd settle for NJ if it was worth the scenery. I'd want to stay away from Atlantic though because I heard because of Atlantic city it's all slums now.

Ok, well everything has fallen apart in terms of planning. The northeast region of the US will be cold and rainy by Thursday so that leaves out any trips to vermont or the adirondacks. I was even considering Cape Charles but all over the northeast it's not going to be nice in terms of weather.
I was considering Florida but that means a plane trip and packing the bike up.

Does any one know where I can pick up a bike case in Manhattan?

Does any one have any ideas where else or what else I can do?
