Selected photos from my recent bike tour through New England

In September, 2010, I rode my bike from the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania, through New York, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, and then Maine to Bar Harbor. I returned through Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts ending in Boston on October 3. I followed the ACA Atlantic Coast route for about half of the ride. You can approximate my route through my entered waypoints here.

Riding a bike through the New England Fall is something I've always wanted to do. It was wonderful, both for the people I met and the places I rode through. Watching the trees slowly change colors was a life highlight.

I took close to 1800 pictures. Instead of trying to pick the best ones, I decided to select one from each day.

You can see these photos here.

Ray

P.S. Detailed journal will be available eventually.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a lovely ride. Nice job on those photos. What camera/lens did you use? Were you using a tripod? Did you photoshop them before posting?

Actually, the camera I was carrying died on the second day of the trip so I had to stop at a Radio Shack in New Paltz, New York and buy a point and shoot camera. It is a Nikon Coolpix L22 that takes 2 AA batteries and has 12 Megapixels. It wasn't cheap ($140 out the door), but it did take some nice photos and is incredibly easy to use.

I don't carry a tripod. But, I do take lots of (bad) photos and often take multiple shots of the same scene using different camera settings and focus points to try and capture the best image possible.

I didn't photoshop these images. Though, there are some that I've seen that might need some adjustment, which I may do when I write up my journal.

Thanks,

Ray
