This isn't mine but I love the spirit behind the setup. I met the owner while touring the West Coast and came to find that she has toured all over the world. Easily in her 60s, I was impressed she was able to manage this unconventional load along the hilly coast.
This should be a lesson to all who are wrapped up in endless gear questions and always looking for the next best thing (myself included)--just get out there and RIDE!

My Masi Randonneur (2011). From what I read they changed this year's model to include three chainrings and downtube shifters. I just added the Ortlieb panniers and love the whole setup, next I'll add a front rack and more panniers, woohoo!

Two beautiful bikes posted today! I like each of them for different reasons. The Masi has a great classic look to it and is very affordable. I also like the semi-horizontal rear drop outs on it so one could run an IGH if they wanted. I might check my LBS to see if they have on in stock to look at. The Co-Motion is just incredible as well. Love the color, accessories, everything! I like the painted stem as well...great touch. Enjoy those bikes!

This was taken two days ago on a short tour (my first) from Birmingham (UK) to Brecon (Wales). I had to carry my mates stuff as well, but when i leave for Europe in a few weeks i shouldn't need quite so much stuff!

How long did it take to get from Birmingham to where you went. I ask because my sister lives in Aberystwyth and Im curious to your travelling time. I had never thought of taking my bike if I ever visited, but your post makes me wonder....I know its bloody hilly around her neck of the woods, so I would hazard a good 3 or 4 days to get there from Birm. I seem to remember its about a 3 or 4 hour train ride from Aber to Birm.

Birmingham to Brecon (95 miles) took one and a half days. It certainly got more difficult in Wales because of the hills but the views made it all worth while! I'd expect Aberystwyth would take 3 to 4 days. We timed the weather absolutely perfect. If the weather hadn't been so nice it may have taken us and extra day!

ta for the distance and guesstimate to Aber. I agree on hills, hard work but lovely views. I dont expect to visit my sister anytime soon, but the idea to fly into Birmingham and then ride to her place is an interesting idea. All the best with your continent trip, you certainly have a good setup of bike and equipment, have a great time.

Here is my Masi. It is a 2009 Speciale Randonneur. The day this picture was taken I was on a 32 miles R/T ride in Huntingdon, PA. Not fully loaded but I was carrying a ton of photo equipment.
