Week long tour from Austin

I am looking at doing a week-ish long tour starting in or around Austin, TX. I am looking to see if there are any Austin-ites or any other one around Austin would like to join me. Start dates, route, destinations, are still open.
If anyone is interested please let me know.

I would love to, but I can't really get away that long. I was going to do the ACA tour from Austin, but now I'm thinking I might just do a 3 night tour going from Austin to New Braunfels, and then to Fredericksburg. For me, it would be more of a trial run for upcoming trip to Europe this summer. Good luck and let me know if I can be of any help since I live in Austin.

Are you going to do your trip self supported? If you need any advice on routes west of Hwy 281, let me know. I grew up in the area and know the roads fairly well and can give advice on where to camp, etc....

Thanks, but I'm going to stay in motels. My European trip will be the same way. I might have some questions about the roads, however. When are you doing your trip?

I'm interested. Not interested in 100 mile days but something with a good pace. I got a touring bike last year and panniers. Would love to see parts of Texas that I've missed so far, e.g. Kerrville.

Have you narrowed down your dates or route?

I don't think I can get away for a whole week but maybe a couple days. Me and some friends are planning a S24O the weekend of 2/12-2/13 from Austin to Palmetto State Park, I can check with them if it's a open invite if your interested in joining.

I am still open on dates except for April. I have a tri on the 17th and a wedding on the 30th. Since it is looking like I am likely to do it solo, I am pondering about making it a fishing bike tour. I would start probably in Johnson City, and make my way to somewhere on the coast. The options are open right now on where and when.

I have decided on a few details on the trip. It will be a self supported trip. I will be camping out, meals will be decided at meal time wether or not if I feel like cooking. The mileage per day will be around 50 miles or so a day. No strenuous pace, I like to enjoy myself and the ride.

@badgnome where are some places you would like to visit? If your interested in doing a trip around Kerrville, let me know. I have been to Kerrville many of times, but would like to visit some of the neighboring towns and communities.

@truman Blanco and Johnson City have some wonderful scenery and some interesting places to visit. Johnson City is my hometown, so I have enjoyed alot that nature has to offer there.

@ullearn I would be interested in joining you and your group if there would not be any issue with it. If you would like to join up another time, do a S24O or a 3 day trip I am open to it.

I talked with my buddies and as of now it's a open invite (they got the big campsite), so the more the merrier. Send me a private message with your email address and I will add you to our email planning thread.

mthayer: Nothing really sticks out beside Kerrville. Would be nice to take a tour with small towns at short intervals like we were in Europe. Places of historical interest, BBQs, wineries, and state parks are also pluses in my book. Avoiding roads like FM 150 and FM 1826 with narrow lanes, hills, and curves would be preferable.

April would probably work for me. 3-4 days might be good for a first trip and then onto something longer. Still I could do 7 days with the right people, route and equipment. I may also be able to get a person or two from ACA or Sierra club to join in.

Doing some group ride in Austin on the weekend with the group could also be beneficial. I'm fine with the person who said 50 miles a day, though I could do up to about 70 since after all we have the whole day to work with.
