Weekend tour suggestions from Kirkland WA?
Can anyone give some ideas for weekend tours door-to-door from kirkland, WA? Are there some good routes? Are the cascades doable in a weekend?

What time of year? How far in a day are you riding? North to the Skagit valley area is nice or a ferry ride across the sound to the islands or the Olympic Peninsula. Cascades may take a little longer than a couple of days - all depends I guess on how far you want to go.

When I lived in Seattle, I would sometimes take short weekend tours up Stevens Pass and back, but that was always a trial run before a long tour to make sure my camping gear still worked and to check my fitness level. Its a pretty good ride, and the Old Cascades highway lets you get off of US-2 for part of the pass.
If you like long days and have a three-day weekend you could try the RAMROD route.
You could ride out to Fort Worden, Flagler, or Casey in one day and back the next.
I've heard that Vashon Island is a nice place to tour, but I never got out there. I think that there is a hostel there, so you could get by without camping gear.
