Thanks for the name of the town near the Galena. Looks like we might need to do the trail when we are Kaslo or find another shuttle service in New Denver.

That looks like a heck of a ride by MTB from New Denver to Kaslo. Actually my Garmin maps say it is 6,780 miles from New Denver. I am guessing that is wrong. But is still a pretty good distance. Looks like we actually pass the road to Sandon on the way to New Denver?

Ah only 8.7 miles from New Denver actually not too bad even on an MTB but I am guessing that if we do it from New Denver with an RT via the path it would take more than a few hours?

The trail dumps back near New Denver somewhere? Which end is better to start from?

Oh and the Kaslo hotel? Nice place but slightly out our price range.

If you mean the link for the guide, I did see it and we are talking about the same one. It's well done for what it is and would give you something to look at for now.

Easier to ride the Galena from east to west and the turn off is from the hwy you will be riding to New Denver on: 31A.

I haven't been to Priest River for a very long time. Smaller than Newport but might work for a room and a meal if you want to get in more miles.

There is a nice hostel in Kaslo if you are into that sort of thing. It also has private rooms. Used to stay there a lot when I was a tourist to this area.

Yeah found that hostel. I was just going to ask you about it. It is more our speed.

I emailed them and looks like they can help with separate beds and all.

It sure would be nice to have a list of all of the hostels on the loop. It would make things easier bed wise with 4 guys. That slekirkloop, org does not even have the hostel you mentioned.

I also found this place in Kaslo

https://www.edgewoods.com/

Looks really nice but not exactly sure where it is.

Just to clarify on the Galena. If we started in New Denver we would ride back toward Kaslo on 31A, take the turn off to Sandon, then ride the trail back to New Denver?

If you pass through Winlaw, make sure to check out the Cedar Creek Cafe. I'd recommend the eggs benedict there.

EDIT: Looks like the place is up for sale.

Yes we will be passing through Winlaw leaving New Denver.

This is about the 3rd or 4th food recommendation. Something tells me we are in for some good eating.

That was one of the best things about the PCH.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already, but in Nelson, the Dancing Bear Inn on Baker Street is a very good place to stay.

That is correct but hopefully you mean get a ride to Sandon. I don't mind telling you that it's one steep climb back up to Sandon since you will have the pleasure of flying down 31A to New Denver on your touring bikes.

Nelson has about 50 restaurants for about 10,000 people so good luck deciding where to go for dinner.

Thanks!!!! It does not look that far. Thanks for the warning! That would be hell on one of those fat tire mountain bikes too.

Sounds like the plan then is to get the shuttle of of Kaslo unless I can find a shuttle out of New Denver. Could be expensive out of Kaslo, Figuring the ride and the fact that they will probably want to have someone wait for us. I think I might go ahead and email those guys and see what they say.

Burger King? Actually on my tour of the PCH we had wonderful food all the way down. We figured on having a fine meal the last day in Santa Barbara. Well we were lucky to pick a day when the parents were dropping the kids off for college. Long story short we ate at Chipolte.

Any good places in Trail? Someone mentioned the all you can eat chicken but I see it has an Italian influence and I love Italian food. I would like to find a real Italian restaurant run by a family, if one exists.

On this page they suggest turning west on to School House Road to Deep Creek Road at Naples. On my map, it says Old US Hwy 2. I assume this is the road they are talking about?
