Tax Refund is in the bank, Surly LHT Is Being Ordered

I can't believe this. Should have it in a week.:love:http://urbanvelo.org/wordpress/wp-co...09_day1_29.jpg

It's going to look like this, with the gray or black bags.

Congrats! You ordered the complete, I take it? What size? I can't remember... what were your plans for it? Touring/commuting/fun rides/all of the above? Anyway, Have fun with it!

I certainly understand your excitement. I ordered a black LHT (frameset only) a few weeks ago and am super excited to get the bike built up... once I finally get the frame. I ordered from an LBS I hadn't had dealings with before (a Groupon worth $200 in savings enticed me). Despite being told it would take about a week for everything to come in, I still don't have it. I think the components I ordered (new FD, BB, etc.) are in, but they keep dragging their feet/jerking my chain about when the frame will be in. Last I heard was it is supposed to be in today. Fingers crossed!

Congrats! My tax refund last year bought my LHT. Best tax refund use ever. :)

I hope none of them are you but...

those are sure 3 funny looking people clustered around that LHT. :) Well, not so much the tall guy.

Just curious and inexperienced but what are the tires on the picture above? What type of ride are they designed for?

If the shop has not built it yet, talk to them about an uncut steerer tube and tall stack of spacers. That gives you more options later if you decide you want higher handlebars. Once the tube is cut, it is too late if you wanted it taller.

Those tires in the photo look like Conti Town and Country, not the older German ones but instead the newer ones made in India. I have those and hate them. I got a puncture from a tiny bit of wood. Wood should not be able to cause a puncture. For my last tour I bought and used some Schwalbes. I expect to put the Town and Country back on so that I don't wear out my good Schwalbe touring tires around town, but will carry spare tube where ever I go.

I bought my first touring bike with a tax refund. I took my first big tour down the west coast. Wonderful. I remember tax refunds. Then I got married.......

LOL, I never noticed that before! It's not me, I grabbed the picture from the internet, I think the pic was taken at that annual manufacturers bike show in the states. I think the guy in the suit is Mr. Surly....

I just replaced my stolen one a few weeks ago. Ordering another tomorrow for the GF's birthday, which is 2/28. It's the only production ride we could find that is small enough for her. She's 5' with a relatively short inseem. She test-rode the 42cm and it fits.

We've got a 42' in our bike shop. I don't use this word loosely, but it's kinda cute, like a Mini-Me.

I'll bet she enjoys it.

It is cute. The LBS has a '10 in stock. I would buy it because it's about $100 less, but she (and I) hate that Blue Velvet color so I am going with the black. She's about to head out on a ride. As soon as she splits, I am off to order it. We are going to be touring in Montana this summer. We toured there in '09 and she had to pull a trailer with her old MTB. This will make things easier.

Here is my 42cm LHT on tour. Mine is the original sage green color.
This is the Canyon of the Dolores River near Gateway, Colorado.
