Touring on the Big Island

So I just learnt that I was going to Hawaii for a conference at the end of may... I'd like to stay at least an extra week and do some touring.
- Is there a place I can rent a touring bike? I did a quick search and all I've seen were road bikes and mountain bikes (some shops rent BOB trailers though, which could be a good alternative) (actually I'll post this question in regional forums as well.)
- What is it like for camping, considering I will probably be on my own?
- Is a week enough? Too much? I usually go 80-100 km a day.
I can't believe how lucky I am...

I did a tour trip on Kauai a few years ago. I'd looked a the Big Island and discovered that it's a pretty tough tour (I was taking my daughter). Camping seemed like a decent possibility. I was looking at riding around the island but found that the West/South sides are pretty desolate. Short story, there's a reason they use part of it for the Ironman and a reason why many don't finish.
I was also suprised at all the homeless/transients living in some of the campground on Kauai, and how much the locals trashed the place.
