Bikes: Currently--1978 Schwinn Le Tour III hand me down, 2006 Kona Sutra frame I am currently building up. Past bicycles: 2010 Surly LHT, 2008 Trek 3900 MTB. Childhood bicycles: 1992/3? Giant Attraction, a Huffy, a Mongoose BMX style bike, first bike a BMX.

You never know about the wind along the coast, but its not always blowing as some think. Its the storms that really generate winds, fair weather usally has the light winds heading west to east in the morning and east to west in the evening.

GWB should have the South path opened most of the time due to pressure from cycling organizations in NYC. Once you're past that tight loop at the base of the bridge on the Manhattan side it's not bad. Although, since I live in Queens, a ferry to NJ sounds like a better idea. It takes me 2h to get to GWB and 1h to the ferry. Another option, but costly, is to rent a small moving truck one-way.

Hi, Do they allow bikes on the ferry? I am planning on riding to lwr manhattan and taking the ferry to cross into Jersey.
