Low but wide 700c tyre, any suggestions?

Hi all,
I have been trying to fine the widest tyre that I can get for my road bike but have been having some trouble getting one, I know it will take the width of a 700x35C but it is too high. I was wondering if anyone knew of a tyre that is wide but reasonable small, I don't think I have explained this very well so have a look at the picture below and I am sure it will make more sense.
Thanks.

The Pasela TG is the only thing I know of that even comes close.

Are those 57mm brakes? Biggest tire I've gotten under those
is Vittoria Randonneur Hypers. They are a true 32c, and larger
than most 32c tires. I think the standard Rando tire would be better
for touring than the Hypers, beefier.

If they are 57, a true 32 may be what you're stuck with.

Tires take on an essentially round profile on a rim so if you get a wide tire it will be tall. You can stretch out a tire to lower its profile on a rim that is exceptionally wide for it, but that's not a good idea.

Check out the Rivendell Jack Browns.

https://www.rivbike.com/products/show...en-blue/10-092

Also Panaracer T-Serve and the various Vittoria Randonneur models.

There is a Purpose for wide rim, I got a set of snow Cat rims , in 26" to mount my Studded Nokians

a 1.9" tire is D shaped on those.. Its about Footprint at low pressures..

But that is topic drift in this case ...

I think , from your 1 picture, a 35 tire won't fit your frame and brake configuration

Period.

so .. go +1 and shop for a touring bike for the tire you want to run, Now,
or work within the limitations of the bike you own, and settle for a 32.

I run Jack Browns on My '90 Pinarello steel cross bike, the fork is the limitation on those..

Nice light sport tire , wouldn't tour on them.

I've stopped buying wire bead. I used to use the Ruffy Tuffy, and would have tried
that if it was a folder.

But since then, I've fallen in love, in midsize tires, I think Vittoria makes the best.

Specialized Borough CX Pro, folding tire. 700x32, it's got the same to wider contact patch than most 35mm road tires.

Your bike might be a good candidate for a 650B conversion. I believe you can find information concerning 650B conversions on the Rivendell site. I learned about 650B in an old Rivendell reader. All the measurements concerning brake reach, distance from dropout to bridge, bottom bracket drop etc. are there.

Not all frames are good candidates for a conversion, for example it might lower the bottom bracket too much. Any conversion will involve new rims, tires, spokes, and probably new longer reach brakes.

Most of the talk about 650B seems to be over on the Classic and Vintage subforum.
