Proper seatpost for Brooks fore/aft adjustment
Hey, all.. Trying to figure out a way to set my Flyer a little further back.. This model is notoriously skimpy with rail real estate.. It already sits atop a Look Ergopost 2, and is pushed as far back as it can go.. The company doesn't list the maximum setback anywhere, but it looks to be about 25-30mm, with a 40mm clamp.. (does anybody have the maximum setback on these?)
http://www.lickbike.com/lickimages/0850.gif Saddle feels like it could still benefit from being set a little further back. I searched around and found a couple of pricy options. 150-200 dollars for the FSA K-Force and Nitto Wayback. And then there was the Profile Design Fast Forward. http://www.cambriabike.com/Images/pr...st_forward.jpg This post's designed to bring a rider up to 38mm closer to the handlebars, but I was wondering if it could be turned around to gain extra setback? Or would the clamp mechanism be at an awkward angle at that point? Would this put an unjust burden on the seat tube? I'd be curious to hear if anybody has experimented with this setup. |
Well.. Just got off the phone with a Profile Design tech.. They said the post in that position would end up with a saddle digging its nose where you wouldn't want it to.. I guess that's that. At least now, if anybody has this same question in the future, there's a thread for it.

I recall the Velo-Orange seatpost was designed with extra setback to make it play well with brooks saddles. Then again, they claim 30mm of setback, which is just about what you have now.

Here's the one I use.

Yeah.. I was looking at the VO.. If I could find a shop that deals them, I could bring my post to compare.. But, they look pretty identical in their setbacks.
