Hey VT_Speed_TR

Thanks for the feedback you provided about the Lake Champlain flooding issues a couple of weeks ago.

The departure date for my tour is getting closer, so I wanted to contact you to see if you're interested in meeting for a brewski while I'm in Burlington. I expect to arrive there on Thur., July 14, and will leave for points further north on Saturday, the 16th.

Sure, it would be great to meet ya. The lake is down to 100.5, so almost down to flood stage @ 100 ft.!!!

I believe all roads are open, but the Burlington bike path has some issues, mostly south of town. I assume the causeway is still a mess and not high on the priority list of things to fix. Real shame.

See you in July,

Great. I'll look forward to it. I don't know if you want to share personal info (such as email adresses or such) in a public forum, so I would suggest that "you" suggest a meeting place and time the evening of either the 14th or 15th. You obviously know the area better than I. I only ask that you bear in mind that I will have only a bike for transportation, and that I would prefer to walk somewhere if possible. I will be staying in a hotel in the South Burlington area.

As an aside, you can reach me by email by sending me a message to my offfice address. Find the web site for the U of Alabama Dept of Civil Engineering and go to the faculty pages. My real name is Rocky (thus the Bullwinkle moniker).

I saw that number while flipping past tv channels at an aunts house the other day and not being familiar with the lake feet level (couldnt remember the numbers put out by you guys earlier or in the paper) I wondered if that was much better--but geez, if thats teh official "flood stage" level....oh boy.

again, have a good trip Bullwinkle and do post some details of it when you are done so we can get an idea of how the roads, paths were etc. As I said, I still like the idea of returning there sometime later in teh summer with my wife--reminds me, I have to dig out the name of the cheap little motel we stayed at last summer with friends and the teenagers...it was right near the water....

cheers
