Introducing - Touring for the vertically challenged :)

Built this for the wife this weekend. If you've never seen what an itty bitty Salsa Vaya looks like, behold. It does indeed perfectly fit a 4'11" woman...

Trying to get her to decide on racks/panniers and intend to break her in on a GAP credit card tour. (Spinnaker, this was my trip budget!)

Nice bike! Your garage door is lacking, though. :D

It's 50cm, which is the smallest frame the Vaya comes in. They say it fits 4'10-5'3" and I'd say they're probably pretty darned close. It's a 26" wheel frame. Hardest part I had was getting it in Charcoal metallic. Supposedly that's the last 50cm one in the country, all the rest are orange. That would *not* have flown with the Mrs.

Yeah, thought I might get away with it not being in the 41, but oh so busted :)

Very nice! In my size range too.

I ride a 42cm LHT and a 13.5in old style Novara Randonee (26" wheels) that are tiny too.

Yeah, the final shootout came between the Vaya, the LHT, and the Redline Conquest Pro. I opted for the Vaya due to sloped top tube allowing more standover, and the discs. I was partial to the Conquest, but the race geometry for a cross bike worried me and the standover was right at max. Fortunately I had a WSD Trek road bike that fits her well to use for measurements.

So is She comfortable riding it all day long, day after day ? that's, to my mind,
a touring bike requirement..

We'll find out. She put a metric century on it Sunday with no complaints other than ask for the saddle to be tilted slightly.
