A friend and I have 3 nights/4 days for a trip. We already biked the route from Montreal to QC and now thinking of exploring the route from Montreal to Grand-Remous (round trip in 4 days). Can anyone shed some light on the terrain, accommodations, scenery, etc?

We might opt to go for light loads and more milage without camping equipment, although it looks like there's plenty of camping opportunities.

From Montréal to Mont-Laurier, it's all bike path with plenty of accomodations, sometimes right on the path. Here's the profile:



After Mont-Laurier, you're on highway 117. High traffic, huge shoulders except for a few kilometers (5 or 10) coming out of town where the shoulders are smaller and in poorer conditions. I only rode from highway 107 junction to Mont-Laurier. It wasn't flat but I wouldn't call it hilly.

Any other suggested routes along the Verte from the Montreal area?

just to mention, although my view may be skewed from cross country skiing on the ptit train de nord (so much slower) I found it a little boring as teh views dont change much. Balanced against being on roads with traffic, perhaps its probably better, and again, perhaps my memories are more from skiing on it where I wouldnt have covered much distance in a given time.

maybe look into the distances between towns along it to get a better idea.

How is the route from mont Laurier to ottowa? We are thinking of doing round trip st jerome to mont laurier to ottowa back to st. Jerome.

The eastern road from mont Laurier to ottowa is over 100miles and looks pretty desolate.
