Can someone please tell me how to post photos without thumbnailing them?

Some of us use Photobucket.

Copy and paste the IMG Code.

Thanks for the question. I copied the img url from Photobucket into the link tab in the 'quick reply' window. Voila. Been wondering how to do that. Picture sure is big. Too big for most postings. To edit, I had to use 'go advanced.'

This picture has fewer bytes, but same size. Posting pictures here has a definite learning curve. Much less intuitive than at CG.

Use photobucket as the other posters have suggested. In Photobucket go to edit and resize to about 520x390. Then "save a copy" so you don't reduce your original picture size. Copy the "IMG" code from Photobucket and paste directly into your Forum post. Use Advanced to preview your post. This fits the forum's spacing pretty well.

I use Webshots which will allow you to choose the size of picture you want to direct post the size options are:100, 200, 425, 500, 600 pixels. It also allows some editing and resizing, best part is it is Free.

cyclebum whats the story in that second photo, is that you in the red top. you guys look like someone just sent you the wrong way up a mountain and to top it all you got a puncture so you put on the longs even though the sun is shining.

Was 28F in NE OK the morning that was taken. The day before we'd pushed several steep hills. Journal here.

I will second webshots. Have been using it for quite a few years and being able to select a web friendly size is nice.

I will add with using webshots all the different size images are still thumbnails and if someone wants to see a lot of detail in the full size format the photo is stored in all they have to do is click it.

Could anyone add on how to download pictures from Picasa?

I use Picasa for all my photos.

• Go to your Picasa Web Albums
• open the album
• open the picture
• click on "Link to this Photo" on the right (under Tags)
• check "Image only (no link)"
• select the resolution (for example "Medium-400 400px")
• click on the URL under "Embed Image"
• right-click and select Copy or use Ctrl-C (or Apple-C on a Mac)
• paste that URL into the message window here and surround it with IMG tags

Picasa is very easy to use, as I can upload a whole directory of images with just a few mouse clicks and then share them and use them as I like, with virtually no GB limit (as long as you go with the default setting of converting uploads to 1600 x 1200 resolution).

Okay, now for the really stupid question. What means "surround with IMG tags"?

It means putting the open image tag in front of the url and closing tag at the end. If you don't put the tags, it will just look like a link:

So you need to "surround" the image URL with IMG tags:

You can post any photo by right-clicking on the photo and choosing "copy image URL", then click on the "Insert Image" icon of BikeForums and paste de code in the dialog box.

You can also link an image to a bigger image or to an album, or anything for that matter. Put the tags arround the small image, then select the image including the IMG tags and click on the "Insert Link" icon here at BF and paste the URL of the bigger image or album in the dialog box. The code will look like this:

Bud16415 - Sorry to digress from the post subject but where did you get the hardshell panniers? Are you happy with them? I have a home made set I made from kitty litter pails that I find superior to Ortliebs, but it looks like what you have may be an even better solution. Are they strong enough to use as seats too?

There is a link to the company that makes them. I first was looking at a hard shell and thinking about making some like you did when I saw this company. Then I saw they were overseas and didn’t order them. About a month later I saw in my local craigslist a brand new set for sale and grabbed them. The guy bought them for a recumbent and for whatever reason they didn’t work out and he went back to soft sides. I like them a lot and they work well. I wouldn’t use them as a seat but have used them a lot as a little table sitting on my rolled up sleep system. When on the bike they are made so you can strap stuff to the flat tops.
