Cardiff to London - April
Hi guys,
I've done a fair amount of reading lately. I'm organising a work charity event, cycling from Cardiff to London.
I'd just like to ask a few questions if I may.
Is the National Cycle route 4 able to be covered on a road bike from Cardiff to London?
Could anyone suggest an alternative route other than Route 4? Most people taking part would like to avoid 'A' roads.
Any route planners that give the option of choosing road bike friendly routes?
appreciate your help
Justin

I understand the wariness of A roads, but not all A roads are created equal. Some are really busy, some are basically dual carriageways where it would actually be illegal to ride like on motorways. On the other hand, many A roads are pretty quiet and very rural and being straighter and better paved are best for riding.

Piece together the routes they have using google map street view to make sure the connecting roads are quiet enough for you participants. That's how I planned a ride from London to Stonehenge.
Good luck.

I look forward to seeing some replies.
I've an Aunt in Cardiff I'd like visit.
I've visited the UK over a decade ago now but stayed in the Midlands.
A tour from Heathrow to Cardiff would be a nice way to spend a summer, especially if I could also take in
Devon and Cornwall, meandering my way from pub to pub

Thanks for moving the thread to a more suitable part of the forum.
We have now decide the route we're going to use, apart from a few minor changes to bypass some A roads we'll be following this route:
https://www.routeyou.com/en-gb/route/...-to-cardiff.en
Can anyone suggest a way I can create a route, and download the file of that route to an iPhone app to have turn-by-turn navigation of my created route.
I've tried making a route in google maps, but that can't be shared with the iOS app. I've also tried downloading the above route in .GPX format and adding it to a few Apps off the App store but wih no luck.
Besides printing the map off on multiple pages, what are my options?
Thanks
