Congrats..... however. I'd bet that in four nights and five days you missed some of oahu..... Just saying! I've been riding here (Oahu ) off and on since the 1970s and I havent ridden it all yet

This is my third time visiting Oahu but my first time going around the entire coast on bike. I've definitely seen the Island for all its splendors twice before. Aboatguy what's been your favorite spot to get to by bike on Oahu?

Touring Hawaii has been in the back of my mind for several years. Do you have an online journal? I'd be interested in camping spots, road/traffic conditions, etc. Ever toured any of the other islands? And where are the pictures? :)

Kaena point is nice most folks don't go that far out and the scenery is great.... Not a good ride for road bike but a cycle cross bike should get you through the couple of crappy spots. Diamond head at sunrise is Nice too.... the area between Hanauma Bay and Waimanalo has some wonderful views but my favorite ride is 3 or 4 repeats of, (up Kole Kole, down Snake road up pineapple hill)..... then back down Kunia to rehydrate with 5 or 6 liters of Dublin Black Water...... There's a multitude of wonderful rides... However, if you just ride around the perimeter of the island you're missing sooooo much |
Did you run into the Heavy Breathers? A local bike club that I met on a tour down the Great Allegheny Passage. They came all the way from Oahu to Pittsburgh for the tour.
