Framebag + bottle cages, HELP!
 

I am using a Revelate Tangle framebag and trying to setup my bike to still have access to the seat tube and down tube bottle cages. I plan on carrying most of my water in a hydration pack, but would like to be able to use these bottle cages for a little extra
H2O, or possible some drink mixes. Even using short bottles it is difficult to get the bottles into the cages when the frame bag is full. Anybody know of some bottle cages with the bolt eyelets mounted relatively high on the bottle cage? If I can even gain
1/2" or 3/4" it would make a world of difference. Bonus points if they are side access cages!

You could use cable ties to mount the cage or mount them on the fork the same way ???

Bottle cages on the handlebar, or, have the bottles 'Tri' style,
on the back of the saddle.

Thought about hose clamps, but would prefer a more elegant solution. I may go that route if I have to. Or perhaps drill new holes if I can find a cage with an extra long mounting piece. My handlebar space is taken up already, and would prefer to have their weight down low. Same thing with seatpost, space is taken by a Revelate Viscacha, and would prefer the weight down low anyway. Fork leg mounts might be nice, but I would like to use the existing braze-ons first if possible. Also thought of giving somebody like King Kage a call and see if they can make the eyelets further down on a couple cages. Custom made bottle cages might be as far as I delve into the world of custom bikes! Still looking for answers...

Have you considered a side loading water bottle cage like the Specialized Zee Cage?

If you are looking for a more elegant solution and don't mind spending the money, Salsa makes cages that mount on a couple of their forks. I don't know what kind of bike you are running, but you could replace the fork with one of those and their anything cages and mount water bottles on those. It's an option anyway. Although most folks seem to use them to carry stuff sacks, Salsa specifically says that they're suited for an insulated Nalgene bottle.

Can you mount a cage under your downtube? There are a couple of companies that make adapters to mount another water bottle cage. I use the Zefal one to hold an Airzoundz vessel on my commuter. I'm not sure I'd want to use that particular brands mount to carry the weight of a water bottle though. At least on my size tubing (whatever GT used in '93 for the Outpost) that particular mount is a little loose. I have a Minoura one on my tourer that although it has a big offset (I use it on the seat tube), it mounts quite securely. IIRC the link in the post above has a few other options in this regard.

+1 for the triathlon style 2 bottle cage that attaches to the back of your saddle.

Kingcage.com has a top cap mount so you can put a bottle on top of your steertube.

A more expensive solution is to put some water bottles in some of Revelate's Mountain Feedbags also on your handlebars. It is putting a lot of weight high up though.
