Schwinn Sierra or Schwinn Crosscut?

Hello everyone,
I am new here and this is my first post.
I am preparing for a 4 week bike tour next spring (2013) in France and Germany, and I need help deciding which bike to ride.

I currently ride a 1980s Schwinn Sierra with hybrid (26x1.5) tires for recreation and sometimes for my 35 mile work commute. There is rust on many spokes on both wheels, and LBS thinks I will have to at least get a new wheelset (about $150) before the tour. It does not have a rear rack or a bike mounted air pump.

On the other hand, there is a 1993 Schwinn Crosscut for sale on my local CL (please see attached pic). I checked it out today. It is in good condition and rideable. It has everything original, except the saddle (some Avocet gel saddle) and the tires. It's got 700x35 tires, in place of the original 700x38 tires. It comes with a frame-attached bike pump and rear rack. The owner wants $200 for it. The crosscut feels a bit lighter than the Sierra.

Crosscut specs here: https://www.bikepedia.com/quickbike/B...scut&Type=bike

Both bikes fit me well, although the Sierra's top bar leaves almost no clearance for my crotch when standing on it, whereas the Crosscut's does.

I would like to hear from everyone who would be willing to share on how I should decide which bike to ride especially on the future tour and may be also for work commute.

Thank you all in advance.
