Harris Cyclery lists it for 373 in they're qbp search. I bought mine locally for $399.95. Pacific Coast Cycles in Oceanside. Still waiting on it to show up, ordered it last Friday, expect to pick it up this Friday.

The frameset is inexpensive to begin with. Ordered my Surly Crosscheck from Excel Sports in Colorado (mail/internet order) for a very reasonable price. You'll pay more for a carbon touring fork and seat post than you will for the whole frame. You could just use the fork it comes with, but I know on my CrossCheck it's an anchor...

Excel doesn't carry the LHT. I asked about it. Crosscheck, yes, LHT no. Sheldon has the best price on the web that I've found. Pacific Coast cycles wasn't too far off, and he's a local so I supported him. Most places I've seen are 400-430 for the frameset.

Check the shipping charge first. Surly is owned by QBP so pretty much any bike shop will order it for you, and you won't pay extra for shipping. It's so inexpensive to begin with it might be worth a few extra bucks to have your LBS get it for you.
FWIW,
Raymond

Just call a couple and ask. A skilled mechanic could probably do it in not much over an hour. If you buy the frame through them you might get a better deal. Call a couple of good shops. Ask if they will order the frame for you, how much it will cost, and how much they will charge to swap components from your old bike.

If you order online, AEbike.com seems to always have the best price on QBP stuff.

aebike wanted 420.00 for it, my LBS was 399, Harris is 373, and the other one in the thread mentions 348. I went the LBS route, but that was before I found out about Harris. With tax, I probably paid about 25 more , which really doesn't bother me that much. It's when the LBS wants 300 for something I can get for 150-200 online.

Wow, I'm surprised. I didn't check the LHT price at aebike, was just going from past experience.

Mine has arrived! Impressed so far, only thing I've found wrong is that the spoke holder deal is too close for a 296 spoke. XT hub/CR18 non drive side. I'll stick some tubing over the nipple before threading it to take up the slack. As far as weight goes, the weight weanie in me pulled out the scale. 2465g for the frame @62cm which is 5lb 7oz. 2lb 6.5oz or 1090g for the fork. The scale is in 5 gram increments, so there is a bit of room for error. All in all with a frameset weight of 7lb 13.5oz, I think it'll end up around 23-25lbs with no racks or anything. The color looks better in person than in the pictures btw.

i was seaching for frames yesterday and came across this nice site. Tons of unique parts perfect for a lht. You can get a frame / group combo with decent parts for $850. which is far less than the surly VB quotes. I also found a brooks b-17 saddle in burgundy here, definately whats going on my lht.

I've heard nothing but trouble with momovelo and mailorder. They take the order, don't ship, etc.. Google them, you'll see what I mean.

I can attest to that. I think they're trying to get away from doing mail order anyway. The website now links to Wallingford and Jitensha for mail order items.

Spread the word!!! DO NOT BUY FROM MOMOVELO!! I ordered a folding bike from them February 2nd, 2004. My confirmation said it would be shipped within 24 hours but it never arrived. I contacted him after a couple weeks and said he would be in in a month so I opted to wait. The production of the bike (Dahon) has continuously been put back to where they are now forecasting January 15th, 2005. I don't blame Momovelo for the production of the bike but they have refused to respond to numerous e-mails about refunding my money or changing the order to something in stock. They don't have a valid phone number and have a history of horrible customer service!!

MomoVelo seems to be temporary out of commision. Phone has been disconnected and on their news page of their site, the owner Kai writes "See you next Spring".

I'd think you'd be able to get one in Taiwan. Email the guys at Surly and tell them you want one.

They're pretty good about answering email. I don't see why you couldn't buy one out the back door of the factory. Happens in mexico all the time with bike stuff.

I'd just be curious as to the cost compared to the US. Since basically it doesn't have to come here and back.
