Flying with tools / parts

Does anyone know if the TSA will allow me to take clipless pedals / pedal wrench in my carry on bag?

Would probably be best to pack them w/one's bike. When doing my first tour abroad I packed all of my bike tools/gear, including clipless pedals w/t bike and clothing/personal items in my panniers. My only carry-on was my handlebar bag. Contained my wallet, passport, journal book, pens, etc.

I've carried pedals and tools in hand baggage. No problem.

We usually carry tools etc. in our bicycle box or checked luggage. We reserve the carry-on luggage for the soft stuff like clothing.

What you can bring depends entirely on the airline and the people checking the luggage. We had already completed a few flights on our current trip, when all of a sudden on one flight, the glue in our patch kit was a no-no and was removed.

You just never know.

I got stopped for possession of a 15mm wrench going thru airport security. This was odd because the US TSA had no problem letting me through. Got stopped in Toronto on the way back home.

So might want to keep your tools in checked baggage.
