I've carried pedals and tools in hand baggage. No problem.

We usually carry tools etc. in our bicycle box or checked luggage. We reserve the carry-on luggage for the soft stuff like clothing.
What you can bring depends entirely on the airline and the people checking the luggage. We had already completed a few flights on our current trip, when all of a sudden on one flight, the glue in our patch kit was a no-no and was removed. You just never know. |

So might want to keep your tools in checked baggage. |
Thanks guys, if I do in fact bring the tools, I will check my bag!
