Anyone put a Tubus Cargo on the front of their LHT?

Now that Surly has added the threaded bosses to the fork crown of the LHT fork, rear rack install on the front has become alot easier. How have people's experiences been with this setup, I'm curious about how high the low-riders would be when attached.

"How high the low-riders would be"? Do you mean panniers? If so measure the rack from the bottom attachment hole to the top where the panniers would attach. Then measure that distance from the dropout eyelet you will attach the rack to. That will give you the height to the top of the panniers.

If what you are trying to accomplish is having a front rack with a large platform, there are existing front racks for this, such the the Surly rack, the Jandd Extreme and the Nitto Big from Rivendell. I have the Nitto and the panniers are mid-level.

Cargo, lowriders?

The Cargo doesn't have lowriders. Personally I wouldn't put a rear rack on the front as it'll shift weight too far forward over the front tire. Which LHT do you have? I've got a 26" wheel LHT with an OMM Sherpa front rack. I put on linear brakes so that when the Ortlieb panniers are shifted back as far as practical they can overlap the brakes without resting on them which happened with the cantilevers.

I have a Minirack on top of the wheel, on my Low rider [bruce gordon] equipped bike.

the mini rack supports a wider platform, I used 1/4" plywood for the platform ..

A porteur rack is a wider bigger platform, they are a trend these days,
that is why those braze-ons were added to the fork crown..
