What pass-through battery packs do you use?
I have a Viivant AirX. Not sure if they are sold anymore. |

One factor to consider when considering a dynohub is wheelsize! I don't often see it mentioned in discussing the merits of 26 vs 700, but a 26 inch wheel produces more power than a larger wheel at the same speed, or produces power at a lower speed in comparison to a larger wheel, if you prefer.
Quite true, albeit more importantly is the the above with the ti(y)re size also taken into consideration. Had a Dyno with a 700c x 28mm ti(y)re on it and am building up a Dyno now that will have a 26" x 54mm ti(y)re from Jan, the Rat Trap Pass. Taking the "true" diameters of both of those wheels, it becomes apparent that things are a bit closer than they initially seem. |
My touring bike is going to have a SON hub with a B+M IQ-X front and TopLine Brake Light Plus rear and a Sinewave Reactor top cap charger (though pissed when I saw the new Plug5 Plus from Cinq 5 as it would be better for my set up). The wiring is nearly done just waiting on the wheel to get built.
My Single Speed/Fixed Gear RandoCross FunTime Machine run a SP PV-8 hub with Supernova E3 Pro 2 front and E3 rear and has been great. Though I would love to come up with a better mount for the rear light. |
I use Shimano dyno and Sinewave usb charger, but for the cost, I think you're better off buying a 20000 MaH battery and charging that when convenient.

Amy of the highest end Shimano, SP Dynamo or SON hubs are good. I have all 3, you can't tell the difference when riding. SP bought out of Germany is probably the sweet spot price versus quality can get a PD8 for Eu67. For the conversion side I use a Forumslader from Germany as well. Has the highest output at the lowest speed of all the converters.

Charging batteries is fine if you are in areas with charging and not camping but I found on one of my tours that sitting by the bathroom charging devices just wasn't pleasant while my nice hammock beckoned me back! |
