Custom Trunk Bags?
Howdy! I'm hoping the braintrust here can help.
I have a Tubus Fly rack and am having a devil of a time finding a trunk bag that will fit properly and is small enough for my need. So I'm thinking a custom bag will fit the bill.
Can anyone recommend a custom bag maker?

Thanks for the offer. I found someone. https://www.ovejanegrathreadworks.com/ The prices are reasonable and turnaround is quick. Should have something in well before the year is out.
mr geeker, the Fly rack is odd shaped. Narrow in front (2 1/2 inches) and 3 1/2 inches in back. And only 11 inches long. Even for such a small rack, it's rated well for weight. The bags I've looked at are all too wide to fit properly on this particular narrow rack. Why did I get a narrow rack? That's a question for another discussion!

could always use a large fanny pack and bunji-cord it to the top of your rack, i've done that before. you could also take a couple of large fanny packs or cheap handle bar bags and make mini panniers by attaching denim or something between them. or hell zip tie them to the rack sides. easy enough to work out with out having to pay out the nose for custom work.

That rack was never intended to take anything except panniers so I'm not surprised you're having a hard time. Personally I'd just go with a small dry bag strapped to it rather than something custom made.

If I were in your position, I'd go for a small daypack, like the REI Flash 18 and a couple of webbing straps. It would be secure, light weight, and double as a daypack if you felt the need. The only thing you loose is ease of access while mounted, but it's up to you if that's a sacrifice you're willing to make.

You could also try the Ortlieb bag with a Rixen Kaul mount. Or you could try the Rixen Kaul Klickfix bags. Velofred has them in the US. The Klickfix doesn't need a permanently mounted adapter but I can't say how secure it is.

Check out the Bango Brothers trunk bag. It is reasonably priced and will fit a narrower rack than most. You might also be able to construct a platform to mount on top of your rack to provide more width.
