Racks racks what 2 get

i need help choosing a front and rear rack. Velo orange has there new Campeur Racks. They are stainless steel and cool like old rando touring racks. Nitto has the 33R rear and the very cool front campeur rack with low rider sides or the Nitto Big Front Rack 34F. What to get? Any one buy the vo racks? Has any one got any rust on a nitto rack as they are nickel plated steel?

I've been using the Nitto Big Front Rack for almost a year now, no signs of rust at all. It's very well made.

Rivendell says:

Nitto racks are tubular CrMo steel, nickel plated with a soft silver satin finish that lasts forever, and the joints are fillet-brazed by hand.
For some reason I have a hard time fitting my big Ortliebs on the low rider position, but they work just fine from the higher one.

Not well known as most folks buy the plain painted steel models, Tubus also makes SS and Ti racks:

Japan models after French cyclo-camping bikes.. hence Nitto offering a low rider front and low rider rear combination

I have a set of Nitto Big front and rear from Rivendell. I have gotten some minor surface rust where the nickel has gotten scraped from contact with rough masory surfaces. I have also gotten some rust in the hardware up front. Still, I love them. They are gorgeous and super-strong. And I like the large front platform. (My previous racks and bags were made by Beckman, so it's what I "learned" on.) The front panniers sit higher than low riders for more clearence, but not very high. The rear rack allows me to carry even my 3P tent, which I take when touring with the GF, tent parallel to the frame.

I use the Jandd Extreme and Expedition racks on one of my bikes, well built, sturdy and reasonably priced. My other "tour" bike has Bor Yeuh which came stock on my Giant Excursion. Tubus, Racktime, Nitto and many other make good racks. Choose what works and looks best to you.

Personally I have had Bruce Gordons racks for decades, Tubus ergo/logo for 5 years, came on a Koga Miyata bike I bought.

Nickel plate is pretty, if you like looking at your bike a lot. ( vs watching TV )
