Many people seem to have been through a lot of saddles to find "the one". How about you?

stevage, I voted two, but really the first didn't suck, on the tourer anyway. It's a take-off (CODA) from one of my roadies that works just fine with a slightly less aggressive posture. Right now I'm using a Serfas Ti just because it's a bit nicer and it too failed on a roadie.

Four for me. Wore out the first two, gave the third to my girlfriend, now have a B-17 that's great but could still stand a little more breaking in after nearly 2k miles.

My Brooks Pro is older than the Bike its on.. by decades.

I changed the Bike underneath it..

Then it's which ... one, the B 17 is different from the Pro.
I got rid of the B17 I got with the Koga WTR, the available setback was inadequate,
I sat on the rivets, and still was too far forward.

I now have a Fizik-Brompton,Vitesse , I can shove it back far enough ..

Bike Friday Got the Avocet R 2 that is probably almost 25 years old
nylon base saddle sits out in the rain , under a plastic bag without stretching.

I am probably an anomaly in that the only saddle I have had that I disliked enough to get rid of was a B17 and that was OK when new but I didn't like it when it was really broken in. When I ditched that one it was probably the point where a lot of Brooks users think it is finally perfect

Of my 6 current bikes 5 have the original saddle and I would do a trans continental tour on any of those saddles. The one bike that doesn't have the original saddle was bought used and the owner wanted to keep the saddle. On that one I put a new Prologo Kappa (a road race type saddle). I have not toured on the Kappa yet but it seems super comfy so far.

I know Brooks work for me, so they go on all my bicycles.

I used Brooks saddles back in the 60's but never really liked them aside from their handcrafted appearance. For me they were too heavy, too hard when new, too saggy after break in. I retired mine when Avocet came out with their anatomical "Touring 2" line. I'm currently using a Terry Liberator and like it's appearance and comfort.

I had one and really liked it. My daughter grabbed it and ran like a thief many years ago and still uses it.

I have the Singleworks spring saddle, after about 1-2000 miles it breaks in nicely.

Tried a Brooks B17 and did not like it, use a Brooks Conquest (discontinued model). Have not used any others.

I asked a friend of mine why he used a Brooks Pro on his touring bike that he rode across the country, but on each of his other bikes he instead uses a B17? He had not realized that he had more than one model saddle in his livery.

I'm lucky to have found a cheap Forte (performance) seat that I like (likes me). I've tried changing but always come back. They stopped making them a few years ago so I went on an ebay binge buying up any I could find. I have seven now including two un-opened and ready for service.

Over the years I have tried a bunch, but I just come back to leather. I use a B67 on the touring bike, a B17 on the light touring bike, and VO saddles on my other two.

No option for "how many saddles have you worn out". I've gone through a few on my current bike.

All my bikes run racing saddles. I dislike soft saddles. My long didtance rider has an italian saddle thats twice as hard as any of the others. For rides under 2 hours I don't bother with cycling shorts either. All day they can be useful.

every decade or so i try a new saddle or two. i'm intermittently using a padless carbon brick, that i'm trying to convince myself is okay for 30-40 miles, we'll see.

My current touring bike (2004 True North custom) came with a mod-looking saddle that was only so-so in the comfort department. When it started to fall apart, I replaced it was a Brooks B17 -- which is what Hugh had recommended when I ordered the bike. It's still going strong after six or seven seasons.

On my previous touring bike (1985 Miyata 1000), I cannot count the number of saddles I went through. Maybe eight? I rode the Miyata regularly for almost twenty years (and continue to ride it occasionally). I bought a B17 for the Miyata about four years ago, and I have no plans to replace it!

My story is the same, not counting the Terry. Lots of saddles work just fine for me, but Brooks are not among them.

On my Trek touring bike I tried 4 or 5, including a Brooks and still wasn't happy. I now ride a recumbent bike (Rans Stratus XP) and am very, very happy with the included "saddle".

As soon as I got my Surly Long Haul Trucker I replaced the OEM saddle, a WTB model with a Brooks England B17 and then with a Brooks Flyer. All my bikes have Brooks saddles.

I had a Brooks B17, then switched to the sprung version. The B17 was good, but for this bicycle, I prefer the springs.

I immediately replaced the OE saddle with the Brooks from my old bike.
Approx 16K miles on it (the Brooks), and still going strong!

I have no idea what to enter in the poll. Like Staehp, I can sit almost anything without truly hating it, with the exeption of gell and really soft spongy saddles.

Right now its a champion flyer on the heavy bike, and a custom leather stretched on a brooks rail on the light tourer. Thats about all I have had on those.

But I would give up both for a good Avocet touring II. great saddle, and I do have one but am hoarding it...

Gave up after 4, including a B17, and several thousand miles. Switched to bent. All is well now.

Way back when it was whatever was on the bike, then an Avocet II, then Concor for 20yrs, then Specialized Avatar since I became a fat old fart and had to raise the bars to 1" below seat height. Have tried a Brooks, Ideale and Velo-orange saddle and found them not acceptable. To each his own.
