Yeah. It's not something that I would travel any distance to do on its own, but since I was heading that way it made sense, especially since it cut out what I think were some serious hills. It could also make a nice place to scamp assuming you have your own water supply.

I'm dissapointed!

As the OP, I'm disappointed I haven't done this ride yet, but unfortunately I had to undergo surgery at the same time I was planning the trip. Other physical problems also interveined but after a lot of hard work I finally got myself back to "ride able" condition. Hoping for no more problems so I can do it next spring.

Okane,

I'm sorry to hear the news about your health issues and am glad to hear that you are back in the saddle. The tunnel ride will give you something to aim for. Best wishes.

Thanks.....I was aiming for 2000 miles this year but the latest surgery really set me back. I've been under the knife 4 times in the last 5 years for a myriad of problems and at 66 yrs old, recovery is pretty slow. It was almost 3 months before I regained full strenght. Doc says I need 2 more "procedures", but I would like to hold out and go at least a year without visiting the OR. Funny, the only time I fell well, is in the saddle. Bike on!

This is so true for many of us. For me, I feel best both physically and mentally when I'm riding. It usually hits me about 5 miles in that I suddenly feel pretty dang good and my outlook improves. Works best when I ride solo.

Agreed. Not that it matters to me, but out of curiosity I sometimes wonder what people think when they see me plodding along in windy 30 degree weather.
