Shuttle for Skyline Drive?

I'm hoping to ride the Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park. Does anyone know if there's a shuttle company that would give me a ride back to the start? Or does a bike ride pretty much need to be round trip?

I don't think there's any kind of a shuttle service that I've heard of. I know some of the bike clubs organize trips like that where they arrange their own transportation to pick them up at one end or the other.

What I've done (twice now) is stay in the lodge at Big Meadows at about the halfway point. On one day I ride either south or north and do an out and back, and then on the next day I do the same thing only in the other direction. I end up riding the entire drive twice over two days, but end up back where I started. That's a hard two days though...

If you have some firm dates in mind, send me a PM. If it works out with my schedule I could possibly assist. It seems like half my rides these days end up starting at one end or the other of the drive anyway.

There is a bike shop in Waynesboro that can recommend a guy willing to drive you back to starting point. I did that trip 2 years ago. Google bike shops. I don't remember the name.

That sounds good. I like doing similar out and back rides on the Blue Ridge Parkway. On the return trip, I can see stuff on the climbs that I missed when flying downhill. The scenery is so good that I don't mind retracing my route.

Good to know it might be possible to find a ride. Was the cost reasonable?

I never liked the idea of out and back rides myself. For whatever reason point to point rides appeal to me much more. As a different approach, I am thinking of hiking that section of the AT one way and biking back. I'd have to work out a place to leave the bike though.

Check with shuttlers for the AT. I am sure there are some with trucks that can haul a bike.

I hadn't thought to check the AT shuttle services. Thanks!
